Buckhorn Dec 4, 2016

Chilly, overcast and drizzle. Low 40s and light rain were on hand for the few loonies......er.....shooters that stepped to the line to break some targets at BGC today. 4 hardy souls shot singles and handicap. There were no takers for doubles. The highlight of the event was the Damn Yankee chili conc...

Buckhorn Toy for Tots 11/13/2016

Well what a chilly start to the day it was Sunday morning! I saw 25 degrees on the thermometer early, but, that didn't stop Randy Jones from wearing shorts.......tough is all I can say.......It did warm up to quite comfortable, upper 50s, by the time handicap got going along with solid sunshine for ...

Buckhorn Halloween Shoot 10/30/2016

What a beautiful day for shooting at Buckhorn for the Halloween shoot. Jeri Wilson and Karole Miller in costume with witches hats. Jimmy even got into the spirit of things by throwing orange targets with black rings on them......... It started out with very light winds and ample sunshine for the sin...

Buckhorn 9/3, 9/4, 9/5

What a great weekend. We had a decent turnout for all three days, I don't think anybody shot them all. Everybody did enjoy the food though...... We had shooters from all across the state, from the coast to the mountains and Virginia. There was something for everybody over the three days, good scores...

Buckhorn 8/13 & 8/14 2016

I don't imagine it escaped anybody's attention that it was slightly warm over the weekend. It was down right sweaty shooting, a dry shirt for every event kind of thing. An occasional light breeze came along and once in a while the sun went behind some clouds and at least made you think it was a litt...

Re: Karole Miller Birthday Bash 7/2/2016 and 7/3/2016

It was brought to attention that a very important detail was left out of the report. George Sudderth registered his 75,000 singles target on Saturday. That is quite an accomplishment by any standard. Buckhorn is thrilled you chose to reach this milestone there. Congratulations George and here's hopi...

Karole Miller Birthday Bash 7/2/2016 and 7/3/2016

I was not in attendance for the great food and green targets and I'm really sorry that I missed it. I was at the VA state shoot getting my butt whipped the whole time. Charlie Brown, Marty and I did figure out that we should have stayed home and enjoyed the festivities, might not have shot any bette...

Buckhorn 5/22/2016

Another breezy day shooting in NC. It DID sprinkle a little bit on the first wave of singles then only threatened the remainder of the day. From my perspective, the best part of the day was lunch. Kupcake prepared pork tenderloin with all the trimmings and Kevin provided an outstanding blueberry pie...

Buckhorn 5/21/2016

Those that stayed home afraid of the weather missed out. Not a drop during any of the 3 events. The winds made things a little sporty though. When was the last time there was a shoot in NC without wind??? A decent crowd showed up to shoot with 18 for singles, 15 for handicap and 13 for doubles. The ...

Buckhorn 4/10/2016

Blue bird skies, green grass, trees all leafed out, bright orange new york style targets in the air. Could not ask for anything better right? Well, 20 more degrees and wind about 10 mph less would have made it perfect. 18 shooters took on the singles, 18 for handicap and 12 for doubles. It was one o...

DCWC 3/26/2016

DCWC hosted their first registered shoot of 2016 and under new management. All in all it went ok. It was a learning experience with only a few minor glitches that I'm sure will be addressed as they go forward. Conditions were less than ideal with more clouds than sun, making seeing the targets a bit...
