LCP BIG50 4/27/2016

Post by smokem »

We did not shoot the Big 50 last week due to a lot of our shooters going to the Dogwood Shoot in Bostic, NC. We made up for the miss this week with three squads competing. Conditions were sunny, low 70’s and windy. We had a Promatic mechanic out this week to check out our machine and the targets looked good following his tune up. Top Gun this week was Bill Boston who finished with a 44.

Mike Petrone was runner up with a 43. Wayne Averill and Pat Childers were next with a pair of 42’s.

Harold Smith finished out the 40’s with a 41. Charley Bertrand, Larry Dudley, Frank Harris, Nate Lipsen, Heyward Lowry, Rich Savitsky and Fred Truelove also competed with us. Charley Bertrand brought a guest, John Benoit who shot with us.

Following the Big 50 we celebrated Larry Dudley breaking his first 25 straight at the Dogwood Open last weekend by shooting his cap full of holes. See the pictures later in this newsletter to see how little was left of his cap after we got through with it. We had two shooters from Low Country win their class at the Dogwood Open. Wayne Averill won “C” class in event #1 singles with a score of 94. Larry Dudley won “D” class in event #5 singles with a score of 87. Congratulation to both shooters.

We had some wicked shooting conditions for this shoot at LCP. Windy and lots of reflections from the sun and water delivered some of the more trying conditions we have shot at LCP. Bill Boston shot the top score with an 84. He was followed by Dave Daily who broke 83. Third was shot by Mike Petrone with a 79 and Pat Childers was fourth with a 72. Mike Anselmo, Larry Dudley, Frank Harris, Heyward Lowry, Harold Smith and Fred Truelove also competed. Afterwards three of us shot registered handicap. Bill Boston was first in handicap too. He was followed by Pat Childers and Dave Daily.
