Buckhorn May 11 and 12 2019

Post by straightaway »

BGC hosted two days of shooting over Mother's Day weekend. Pretty good crowd on Saturday and a few hardy souls on Sunday.

The weatherman didn't cooperate much with damp, humid conditions both days. The only thing that kept it bearable was that the temps didn't get past the upper 70s. Target visibility was hit or miss (pun intended) cloudy and overcast was the name of the game.

We did have a few events of note. Saturday, Kai Li mashed the middle 50 in the handicap race and came out with a pay day of $700 +/-. Good Shooting Kai (thought you were coming back Sunday......)

Joe Nalley trotted out his brand new Kolar combo on Sunday for it's maiden registered voyage and proceeded to give everybody a big ol' butt whuppin with it. He tied for high gun in singles, then beat up on Josh Brafford in one overtime round. He took mid yardage honors in caps then thrashed his way into a B class doubles win. That worked out for a run away HOA win. I expect we'll be seeing a lot more of this..........

Of note on Sunday's doubles was a "10" post shot by Jeff Abarbanell. Speculation has it that he probably wouldn't have made it with Ray Yazdi helping him out by shooting out of turn and breaking a pair for him.

It was great to see Chris Powell back at it. It's been right at 3 years since he had an accident that pretty much wrecked his body. Multiple surgeries and rehab sessions have got him on his feet and back on the line. As can be seen, he didn't forget how.

As always, Granny Jeri saw to it that we were well fed. Cold cuts and beans were the main course with Karole providing a chocolate lasagna that added 12 pounds to my fat ass just looking at it on Saturday with a similar concoction with pistachio in it for Sunday, delicious.

And also as always, the Faithful were on hand, got it rolling, kept it rolling and got it done in typical BGC fashion.

The South Carolina State shoots cranks up the middle of the week with NC shortly behind. Hope to see any and many of you there!

Shoot well, travel safe and we'll see you next time wherever it is! Dan
