Buckhorn Toys for Tots 11/10/2019

Post by straightaway »

What a great day for doing anything outside, especially shooting related. After the frost burned off the temps went from just right to perfect! A good crowd overflowed the parking lot today at BGC as we put another Toys-for-Tots in the books.

There was a couch and a half of shiny new gizmos and doodads donated to fuel the imaginations of kids of all ages. This event always serves as a reminder that we are truly blessed to have the health and means to enjoy this great sport of ours and to be able to share with and bring happiness to kids who may not otherwise have a meaningful Holiday Season.

After dodging deer and "other" creatures on the way to the club, we pulled into the yard to find most of the usual suspects on hand along with a couple of shooters we haven't seen for a while. There was a breeze that certainly made things interesting as targets were sporty at times to say the least. All 4 fields were in use for singles and caps with the standard 1 and 2 used for doubles. There were 36 shooters for singles, 33 for caps and 28 for doubles.

Charles C. Brown Jr showed up and started going on about his new yardage. We're now convinced that his age is affecting his mental capacity as he has evidently forgotten the idea is to move back..............he is now a 24 yd resident.......(he did manage to get a 1/2 yd for his efforts today)

Pictures of deer harvested were shared, hunting stories told and anticipated hunting adventures discussed. There have been some good ones taken so far this year and I hope to contribute soon!

Again, the Faithfull pulled one off without missing a beat. Jeri, Mary and Karole made sure everyone enjoyed the spaghetti lunch with the chicken alfredo, garlic bread and other trimmings. Not sure exactly what flavor Kupcake called the cupcakes but, they were (no surprise) absolutely delicious. I'm telling ya, if you have never experienced the targets, food and hospitality at BGC, YOU are missing out. SOOOOOO with that, next shoot is December 8, c'mon out and give us a try!

That is that. Shoot well, shoot often and we'll see you next time wherever it is. Dan
