A. WAYNE Harrison died peacefully at 8:49 p.m. on August 6, 2014, surrounded by his children, family, and friends. Wayne was a true Renaissance man throughout his life, an avid golfer, fisherman, photographer, painter, motocross racer, historian, championship trap shooter, and devoted follower of UNC athletics.

Born on January 25, 1942 in Salisbury, NC, Wayne was raised in Gold Hill and High Point, where he graduated from High Point High in 1959. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Class of '63, was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity, and a member of the UNC Golf Team.

In 1969, he graduated from the UNC School of Law and began his practice in Greensboro, NC. Wayne was a distinguished defense attorney, specializing in Fourth Amendment law. He was known affectionately in the law community as "Cocaine Wayne" for his expertise in drug-related defense cases.

He is survived by: his three children, Charles Ashmore Harrison and his mother, Dianne Hartsfield Harrison; Hannah Virginia Harrison, and Anthony Wayne Harrison, Jr. and their mother, Eleni T. Harrison; his sister, Maggie H. Mangan, and her son, Luke Mangan, of St. Louis, MO; his grandson, William Nathaniel Harrison; and cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by his devoted legal assistant, Amy Crowder of Reidsville, and her daughter, Emily. May his memory be eternal.A service will be held at Gold Hill United Methodist Church in Gold Hill, NC on Saturday, August 9, at 11 a.m. A wake will be held in Greensboro, NC at Khalif Event Center, 2000 E. Wendover Ave., on August 15 from 3 p.m.-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the J. Dickson Phillips, Jr. Scholarship Fund, UNC School of Law, Office of Advancement, Campus Box 3382, Chapel Hill, NC 27599.
