December 7th Smoke Report

Post by smokem »

Great weather weekend and I hope you got out to enjoy it while it lasts. Weather is warm all over and looks like areas of New York that typically see snow by now are only seeing rain. Two shoots last week with LCP's BIG50 and BGC's last monthly shoot of the 2015. I have the shoot reports from LCP's monthly shoot and their recent BIG50.

Another week at LCP with good conditions and trap scores that did not match up with the conditions. Pat Childers was Top Gun this week with a score of 41. Wayne Averill was second with a 39. Harold Smith came in third with 34. Paul Miraglia broke 30 and Terry Lewis took out 26. We did have a good turnout with 7 shooters participating. Let’s hope whatever is responsible for the lower scores disappears by next week! Pat nosed out Harold Smith for the Big 50 high average for the month with an 86.5% average versus Harold’s 84.5%. Mike Petrone was third with 84%.

We had good attendance for the November shoot with 10 participants. Bill Boston came down from Southport with four shooters and Dave Eslinger drove down from Washington. Dave was the Top Gun Saturday with a score of 95. Good shooting Dave. It was a three way tie for second with Bill Boston, Pat Childers and Harold Smith all breaking 85’s. Wayne Averill was next with a 78 and he was followed by Larry Dudley with a 76. Rick Winterhalter took out 74 and Fred Truelove smoked 71. Mike Anselmo shot a 64 and Heyward Lowry finished out the shooting with a 48. Everyone enjoyed themselves except for the wonderful shooting scores except for Dave who enjoyed both. LCP's next monthly shoot is December 19th.

BGC shot Sunday and some great scores were broken....Three 99's in singles with a flipoff resulting in John Miller the HiGun winner. Steve Watson got a 1/2 yard to the 26 for his 95 and Dan Johnson was the winner of the doubles with his 99 until John Miller broke one more stinking bird. His hat took a load of lead according to Mr. Johnson.

The Watauga Cartel slid down to Spartanburg Saturday and the wind was just a whipping. David Miller won Class A Singles with a 94 - Will Price WON THE CAPS WITH A 81 and got a half yard! Looks like Randy Boone Jones is on a quest to register 100,000 caps and dubs targets before he cant feel his finger anymore.

Ft. Bragg shoot this Saturday and it will be there last registered shoot. They are offering $1000 added money with a $100 going to the event higun winner and $50 going to class and yardage winners. I have a lot of great memories shooting at Bragg and maybe one day they can crank it back up. Marty posted the program and would like an email if you are coming so he can prepare for food and trap help.

Old Hickory@Bostic - Buncombe - Ft. Bragg - Charlie Brown - all of these clubs are no longer offering registered targets. Not really prepared to discuss all the details but is tough watching all of these clubs not offer registered birds. That really thins the clubs down across the state and it leaves - Watauga - Rockingham - Durham County - Buckhorn - Gastonia - Coharie - LCP......

Ok - that is about it and I hope everybody has a great week. Hello to Hap, Scott, Lou and Chase and until next week......................Smokem..
