Post by smokem »

Good morning to all and what I hope everybody had a great week and weekend. Only one event last week at LCP and I have posted the results. Thanks to Dan Johnson the Buckhorn 2-Day shoot info is posted!

Monday morning @ 11AM - Bill Howe was nice enough to remind me about the passing of Lillian Smith on the 7th. As many of you know she was the wife of Charlie Smith who passed away several years ago at the Old Hickory Gun Club. Lillian was a great lady and worked very hard over the years assisting Charlie at the Gun Club and also working in an around the NC Homegrounds. I posted several weeks ago that Ronnie was recovering from a stroke and prayers are needed more than ever right now.... I have posted the obituary info in the finished careers section.

Looks like a milestone was reached last Saturday at BGC when George “BamBam” Sudderth broke his 75,000th singles target and that is quite an accomplishment. I am not sure if he shot it with the new to him Blaser or what gun broke the bird.

The Southern Zone Telephonic cranks up Thursday and folks from all around will be descending on the North Carolina Homegrounds. Weather is looking good with low 90’s and the humidity in the 60% range. Always a chance for PM thunderstorms in the North Carolina mountains. I have included the hot links to look back at the hotshots from 2015. Program link ----- http://www.nctrap.com/2016zone.pdf

I just got back from the 97th Annual Konne-Yaut Indian gathering at the West Penn Sportsman Gun Club. 4 beautiful days with no rain and minimal wind during the competition. The event was well attended and the 98th Annual gathering will be held at the Bradford Gun Club in Bradford PA in 2017. I will be posting the pictures and the scores sometime this week.

One of the fellows I mention in my closing is Scott Holdren. He shot rather well all week and so did his son Jason. Scott had two shootoffs pending for two perpetual trophies and I hope to get that info sometime this week. I did take the time to stick around and get a picture of Scott, Helen and Jason shooting the singles Sunday morning……great family and great competitors…..

It has been a long five days and back to the daycare Monday. I hope everybody has a great week and I hope to get info from the Zone as time permits. Hello to Hap, Scott, Lou and Chase and until next week …………………………………………Smokem
