September 19th Smoke Report

Post by smokem »

Hello to all and another great shooting weekend in North Carolina. LCP shot Wednesday and Saturday and Durham County had a great turnout Saturday. The Hall of Fame starts Saturday and Bill Howe will be inducted Saturday night.

LCP shot Wednesday and David Barron and Harold Smith tied with 45’s. The event last week was cancelled due to issues with the voice calls. LCP shot the 17th and those shoot scores will be available on his newsletter or in the smoke report next Monday.

Durham County had a great day to shoot Saturday and 32/26/16 stepped to the line for singles/caps/doubles. Kenney Cox led all shooters in the singles with a 99, Randy “Boone” Jones won the caps with a 91 and a shoot off over Karl Bowman and Dan Johnson won the doubles with a 95 and the HOA with a 276x300.

Bill Howe will be inducted into the North Carolina Hall of Fame this Saturday. He has shot 165,500 singles, 134,250 handicap, 136,050 doubles for a total of 435,800 registered targets. That of course does not include practice and shoot off targets. The banquet is Saturday night and you still might be able to secure your spot at one of the tables in the clubhouse for the festivities. Bills family and friends will be there and a great time will be had by all.

The Hall of Fame cranks up Thursday and the weather is looking great all four days with temps in the mid 80’s. Chance for rain in the AM Thursday with PM t-storms for Friday and Sunday. Saturday looks great for the championship singles but the weather is always changing.

One of Bill’s shooting friends Brian Luther will make it to the shoot for Friday and Saturday. If you get a chance to see him shoot doubles you better look quick. When he went to Kolar to get his new combo gun they asked how he wanted his triggers setup. He played the video I took at the South Carolina State Shoot in 2012. The link I will provide will give you an idea of just how quick he rolls them up. In this video he is shooting a Browning O/U and this is before he got the Kolar… He is on post 2 with Bill Howe on post 3…..http://smg.photobucket.com/user/smokem/ ... 4.mp4.html

Ok that is about it for this week’s smoke report. Oh just a trip through memory lane to the 2015 HOF. Steve Watson won the singles with a 197, Richard Griffith from GA won the doubles with a 96, Dan Jones from Alabama won the caps with a 93 and Dan Johnson won the HOA with a 379……..Here is the link to the 2015 shoot report - http://nctrap.com/hof2015.pdf and picture slideshows are below.
