August 7th Smoke Report

Post by smokem »

Good morning to all and what a great weekend in North Carolina. LCP shot Wednesday and we should have updates as soon as Pat gets back. Three shoots this week with LCP’s BIG50 the 9th, Polk County the 12th and BGC the 12th & 13th. Polk County has posted their shoot program and I would imagine BGC will post this week. NC State Shoot Dates -http://nctrap.com/shoots2017.pdf I dug up the shoot results from Spartanburg’s monthly shoot - http://www.shootata.com/Portals/0/pdf/r ... leName.pdf

I guess the big story is the Grand American in Sparta Illinois and Preliminary week. The weather has been cooler and Sunday they had some rainy weather roll in. I have been watching the score slideshow and have seen names like Billy Thigpen, Bill Howell, Jeff Galloway, Noah Gouge, Dennis Taylor to name a few. This is the link to watch the activity during the day http://slideshow.shootata.com/ Here is a link to a news article that was written about the Grand American - http://thesouthern.com/sports/grand-ame ... 583ec.html

I sifted through the prelim week and found winners from NC and SC. Randy Knight Vet RU (100) Hogdon Powder Singles – Teresa Knight Lady II 3rd (94) Trap & Field Handicap – Noah Gouge JR 3rd (98) T&F Handicap – Dennis Taylor Class C 3rd (95) Little Egypt Golf Cart Doubles – Noah Gouge JR RU (99) Little Egypt Golf Cart Doubles – Noah Gouge Event Champion (100) Trapshooting USA Handicap – John Pickitt Class C 3rd (92) Zoli International Doubles – Noah Gouge JR Champ (100) Zoli International Doubles – Dennis Taylor Sr. Vet 3rd (93) Gipson-Ricketts Handicap. This is up to date up to Sunday and remember there are some carryovers from doubles and singles.

NOTE: I posted a picture of Noah Sunday night and it was removed by photobucket due to their policy? I reposted it Monday afternoon again to see if they remove it again. The photo was saved off of Facebook and they did not remove it there. Not sure what is going on and hope they do not remove it again.

Noah Gouge

Day 2 of the Grand produced a remarkable story involving Noah Gouge. Scott was working in the Schultz trailer and Scott told Noah not to come back unless he run them all. Scott would ask how did you do Noah and Noah said I am back ain’t I? That continued all day with Noah breaking 100 in singles, handicap and doubles and won his handicap shootoff against Jim Baumann from VA. I have included some links to the results - http://www.shootata.com/AboutUs/GrandAm ... sults.aspx
and also to the trophy lists - http://www.shootata.com/Portals/0/pdf/TrophyListsPW.pdf

Hunter Galloway headed up to the Grand solo last Saturday and Jeff and his mom flew up the 4th. They rented a home at the Sparta Country Club with a golf course in front and a lake out back. Jeff took his clubs and fishing pole for any downtime that he may have. Looks like a great place from the pictures and I have a view out the back and a fish he caught early Sunday morning.

That is about it and I hope everybody has a great week. Looks like it will be a little wet but we do need the rain. Hello to Lou, Hap is at the Grand, Scott and Cousin Ronnie and until next week……………..Smokem
