January 29th Smoke Report

Post by smokem »

Hello and good morning from Jamestown North Carolina. The shoot calendar is ramping up with shoots and the new NCTA Official list was updated last week. Find it here by mashing this link - http://nctrap.com/shoots2017.pdf

Pat Childers is posting his shoot scores on the site and I encourage any new clubs like Buccaneer and Charlotte to post if they so desire. Thanks to all that post shoot programs and shoot results it is really appreciated. Anytime you have pictures to include please email them to me and I can drop them in to enhance the report. Send to fcr7@yahoo.com

Looks like about 7 NC shooters participated in the Silver Dollar Open January 24th – 28th. Brad Barnett won the Vet caps Thursday with a 91 and got a punch to the 26.5. Charlie Brown took 2nd in the Prelim Caps Friday with a 93 and a punch to the 26. Perry Kemp won B on Saturday with a solid 195 with 199’s taking the top honors….

Looks like Brad Barnett, Kenny Cox, Perry Kemp, George Brown, Marty Hill, Charlie Brown and Terry Roush attended the shoot. Perry Kemp continued his winning ways with a solid 98 Sunday in the second handicap event. He placed third and what a great weekend of shooting for him. Kenny Cox won Class “C” All Around with a 363. I have included the links to scores, attendance and demographics if you want to take a look. Attendance - http://rjstuart.com/Attendance/2018SDOP ... One more of the famous field 1 at WGC……

Watauga Gun Club President Morg Shaw posted info on Facebook regarding the North Carolina Hunter Safety scrimmage Saturday. Over 100 youngsters participated with 4 perfect scores broken in the trap element of the competition. It sure would be great to see 25 squads of trap shooters at WGC on a Saturday.

Prayer list includes Jan Schultz, JT Brewer, Lewis Wyatt and Jimmy Wilson. Not sure how Billy Thigpens wife is doing but I hope she is doing better. If you know of someone in the trapshooting family that is sick, please let me know and we will publish it here…

I had the pleasure of talking with John Sandell with the Charlotte Rifle & Pistol Club. He is really excited about their BIG50 program and told me they have league shooting that involves 60 shooters. He is working on getting new shooters registered with the ATA in hopes they travel to the NC Homegrounds to compete at that level. Terry Roush has added their info back into NCTRAP.com with a link to the ATA website.

I worked on the backlog of account requests and sent out about 10 emails regarding account logins and passwords. I have had some replies and hopefully more will sign up in the future. If you would like your password reset or are having issues just email me and I will fix it.

ATTENTION - Clinic info has been posted that includes Harlan Campbell and Nora Ross clinics. Harlan will be teaching at the Spartanburg Gun Club and Nora will be at the Charlotte Rifle & Pistol Club. The info is in the trapshooting clinics section....Mash on the link to access the clinic info..https://tarheeltrap.com/viewforum.php?f=18

That is about it for now and I hope everybody has a great week. According to some weather folks the 2nd through the 12th might produce some wintry weather events. That remains to be seen after that 2 inch storm morphed into 7-9 inches with Mebane getting most of the snow…..Hello to Lou, Hap, Scott and Cousin Ronnie and until next week…………………………….smokem
