Post by smokem »

What a great weekend for shooting a little trap in North Carolina. Several shoots last week with the shoot report for Old Hickory@Rocky Mount posted by Marty Hill. LCP shot their BIG50 and monthly shoot last week. One BIG50 at LCP Wednesday and the NC Hall Of Fame starts this Thursday. Here is the link to the NCTA Official shoot calendar - http://nctrap.com/shoots2017.pdf

2017 HOF Friday

The 28th Annual North Carolina Hall of Fame cranks up this Thursday and runs through Sunday. 1000 registered targets over 4 days of shooting at the NC Homegrounds. Looking at the weather it looks good all 4 days and that will be great. Carolyn Keever will be inducted Saturday night at a banquet that will be held at the Homegrounds clubhouse. Also, the Old Hickory Gun Club will he hosting a dinner Friday night at the Old Hickory property. I have included the program in case you want to check it out…..Page 1 - http://nctrap.com/HOF2018p1.pdf Page 2 - http://nctrap.com/HOF2018p2.pdf I have also included a link to some of the pix I took on Friday in 2017 - http://smg.photobucket.com/user/smokem/ ... day?sort=3

Please continue to pray for Jan Schultz, JT Brewer, Lewis Wyatt and Roger Shaffer. I called Roger Saturday as I was passing by the road to his home. He recently had surgery to his neck to fuse some vertebrae. All went well except his adams apple is off center and he is having issues with swallowing and that is a problem. He also has weakness in both of his arms and there is no way he can handle a shotgun.

I ran 158 going to the Rockingham Gun Club Saturday and there was a big house on the left that always used to fly a Rebel flag. The big huge tree that sat in front of that house finally finished that old 2 story house off with the winds produced from the tornado that passed near there last Sunday. I decided to go the other way from the club and when I got near the railroad tracks I was shocked at what I was seeing. The large silo (30 feet high) that sat off to the left was laying on its side all bent up being ripped off the concrete base. The big two-story home on the opposite corner was being reroofed but had no structural damage. As I turned left about 6 homes on the right had huge tree debris piles in the yards and several homes had suffered structural damage. Roger said when the tornado got close he could see the trees on his property line laying over and thinks that is when the tornado was moving to the ground. The tornado touched down only ½ a mile from Roger and did all that damage. Roger lives on a parallel ridge line from the Gun Club and not sure how many miles that actually is. You can see his house from the trap line and that is pretty scary thinking it could have hit the club or Roger…..

Helen Harmon Harrelson

SC trapshooter Jan Slough kept me informed about South Carolina HOF trapshooter Mike Harrelson’s wife Helen. She passed away last week after her battle with cancer. It was only a few weeks ago that I posted that Buddy Poteat had passed away from cancer also. They had been married 57 years and I have included the link to he obituary page. Please keep him in your prayers at this time…. http://www.floydmortuary.com/obituaries ... Harrelson/#!/

That is it for this week and the first three days look a little soggy. Hello to Lou, Hap, Scott and Cousin Ronnie and until next week………………………….Smokem
