Just got off the phone with our mystery reporter at the VA State Shoot. Weather was a little toasty today but Friday - Sunday the high temps might not even reach 80 degrees. Wind will be minimal for the trhee days but Saturday shows a 50% chance of rain.

Looks like Charlie Brown, Larry High, Jim Bray and the Galloways will shoot Friday. Jimmy Wilson should be on the grounds in the morning!

Jeff Hashbarger is at the shoot and wanted Richard Colley to know that he had an empty bed in case he wanted to come on up!

We will try to keep you posted as information becomes available.

VA shoots 100 singles and 100 caps on Friday with a 50 bird handicap event after the regular registered program.

The 50 bird event costs $55 and $40 is returned to the shooter. This is an event that used to be offered at the NC State Shoot way back when Hunter Galloway was the NCTA president.

Anyway, Jeff broke a 99 and Jim Bray and Hunter borke 96's. Weather is good and the handicap event is about ready to start.

Looks like VA got off an hour late today and hopefully that won't push the caps too late in the day!

8:45 PM

Just got off of the phone with Hunter and he said it rained all afternoon. They shot the caps in the rain and it was heavy at times.

Pat McCarthy of Ohio broke a 98 and Tom Wilkinson broke a 96 along with a few others. Hunter had his dark purple lenses on and broke a 24 on his 1st trap. The bottom fell out and the skies darkened and his 2nd field netted him a 21. He headed back to the burb to get his clear lenses and couldn't find the bag. He wore his clear reading glasses and broke 49x50 for a solid 94 and a shootoff.

The fellow he tied was shooting right beside him ironically. The fellow told Hunter he wanted to get home and aksed if he wanted to flip? Hunter said no thanks and they shotoff later and thank goodness the rain stopped for the shootoff.

Hunter won his yardage group with a 23 in the shootoff and he isn't sure what the other fellow posted.

That is about all the info I have except that Jeff broke a 93 from the 27 in that rain!

Check back Saturday for more info and hopefully we will have the scores for day 1 at Watauga!

Saturday/Sunday At The VA State Shoot

The weather held up for the singles Saturday and some great scores were recorded. Jeff Galloway broke a 23 on his 1st trap and then went 175 straight only to be outdone by 1 target by a fellow from Maryland.

Trey Wilburn broke 199 and then went (200 more is what I heard) before losing the shootoff to a fellow from the Bluefield club.

Sunday all we heard was that Hunter broke a 96 in the doubles and lost the shootoff to a fellow from WVA.

I wish I had more info but that is about it! We will post the link to the VA scores as soon as it becomes available.
