AFTER THE WEEKS OF COLD, ICING WEATHER, Saturday was a glorious day to shoot trap. Sunny and no wind. We enjoyed a great crowd including several wives and mothers. Al and Mac apologize for the slow start which was due to our first use of the 3S scoring program and our desire to keep duplicate records on this first computer attempt. But the shooters seemed understanding and we appreciated that. We were happy to welcome Freddie Redmon and Dan Johnson back to Coharie after many years absence and new shooter Forest Hawes. Dan said the real reason he came was to pick up some state team points on Jimmy Wilson.
Newly appearing and slimmed down Al Bost showed up for singles and I admit I did not recognize him. Thanks to all the shooters who helped load and score and especially Marty Hill who scored all day but did not shoot although he almost changed his mind when he saw how poorly the long yardage shooters were doing. CONGRATULATIONS TO BRIAN WEST for a superb 97 on handicap from the 22 yard line earning a full yard punch. He ran the first 50 then missed the 65th bird on the third field to just miss the mid 50 pot by one bird. Three shooters knotted at 96 in singles and the champ was decided by a flip. Lastly, thanks to my wife Ann for a delicious lunch.
