June 22nd Smoke Report

Post by smokem »

Summertime has dugs its heels in hard with temps in the mid nineties and dangerous thunderstorms over the weekend. Folks still managed to get out and shoot with LCP shooting their BIG50 Wednesday and Buckhorn shooting Sunday.

Four shoots coming up this week with the LCP BIG50 the 24th (start at 11), and Watauga, Coharie and LCP all shooting Saturday the 27th. Watauga has their program up and I am sure CSL will post their program today. Get out and support these local clubs with attending and they will appreciate it for sure.

LCP held their BIG50 Wednesday and they had three shooters with Harold posting a 49 for the second week straight. Temp was 95 with little or no wind and it was a scorcher. Pat Childers shot great at the NC State Shoot and got his picture taken for Trap & Field. Wayne Averill shot well also at the NC State Shoot and he is a great fellow. Hats off to Pat for promoting the shooting sports wherever he goes and he does a great job on his weekly newsletter.

Buckhorn shot Sunday and thanks Dan for posting the shoot report. 17 singles - 13 caps and 8 doubles braved the hot weather and posted some great scores for the conditions. Dan Johnson led all singles shooters with a 99, Chase Walker whipped Karole Miller in caps after the posted 97's with Karole pocketing some cookie money after hitting the MIDDLE 50, and Jimmy Wilson won the doubles with a 93. Dan took the HOA with a solid 282 with Karole nipping at his heels with a super 280.....BGC would like to thank all that attended and all that pitched in to help. BGC shoots next in August on the 8th and 9th......

Thanks to Tom Pitts the State Team points are up for June and can be found on this website. A ton of figuring and ciphering goes into assembling and tabulating all of those points and the shooters are blessed to have him taking the time to getrdone.

Just a few weeks away from the Southern Zone at the NC Homegrounds. With a great turnout at the NC State shoot and all of the new faces I would imagine that the Zone attendance will be up also. With great targets, ERADS and great shoot management the word is out that NC is the place to break some of the best scores of your life. Wednesday June 15th will be the "WARM UP WEDNESDAY" with a typical 300 target program that will not be a part of the Zone program. This will give you a chance to get tuned in before the feathers start flying on Thursday.

Have a great week and hello to Hap, Scott and Lou and until next week...........................................Smokem
