April 29th Smoke Report

Post by smokem »

Another great weather weekend in North Carolina and several shooting events to discuss including the Georgia State Trapshoot. Two shooting events in NC this weekend and hopefully the weather cooperates.

Fort Liberty shot Saturday and a good group showed up to play in the sand. Dan Johnson, Glen Alford among others participated and there were enough handicap shooters for a punch. Eric Blakeney led all singles shooters with a 99, John Martin’s 95 in handicap got him a ½ yard punch and Joe Nalley won the doubles with a 97. Eric Blakeney took HOA with a 272x300 and that is great shooting. Marty would like to say thanks to all that attended and to all that pitched in and helped.

The Georgia State Trapshoot is in the books and 4 NC shooters made the trip. SubJr shooter Jacob Gossett really dialed it in and won in handicap, doubles and singles events. 92 in caps – 98 in singles and a 96 in doubles is strong after his recent Harlan Campbell clinic. Bill Howe also took home a “D” Class singles award with a 98. At this (8:30pm) moment the doubles and handicap and HOA/HAA have not been posted to the web.

The Rockingham County Gun Club will be hosting a Youth ATA AIM Championship along with the AIM Online Zone Championship. This is a youth-oriented event but is open for any ATA shooter and we will be offering $20/100 for those participants. Great trophies have been secured for the youth entries and team awards. Food will be provided by Second Helpings Food Truck, and this is their third year providing food for the club. Shooters from North Carolina and surrounding states are invited to come out and join us. One more event and that is on Sunday when the Rockingham County Gun Club will host a BIG50 with registration at 1PM and shooting at 2PM. You do not have to be an ATA member to participate in the event. Come on out and learn how it is done.

Ok that will do it for this week. Watauga shot Saturday and Morg says BIGD Tollison showed up and showed out. Hopefully more details next week. Hello to Scott, Ronnie, Cowboy, Tim, Bobby, Phil, Mac, John, Thea and Anne and until next week……..smokem
