June 10th Smoke Report

Post by smokem »

Good morning and hopefully you are looking forward to a great week ahead. The 111th NC State Shoot is over, and the weather allowed some great scores to be broken at the NC Homegrounds.

First, I would like to acknowledge the folks that arrive days before the shoot begins and to those that close the facility until the next big event. Jimmy Wilson and all his faithful workers work countless hours and also try to compete at a high level.

Wednesday and Thursday was hot with some weather and then the cold front moved in with lower temperatures and lower humidity. Friday through Sunday was absolutely beautiful, and the score showed it.

I will post the link to shootscoreboard.com because I won’t be taking the time to list all the winners. The singles Champ was Noah Gouge with a 199 and a one box shootoff over Caleb Mathis. Noah also won the doubles with a 98 and the HAA with a 393. Also, Noah will be inducted into the NC Hall of Fame in 2025 along with Brian Keever. The handicap champ was won by Caleb Mathis little (big) brother Connor with the lone 97. The HOA was won by Caleb Mathis with 960x1000.

Bob Schultz will continue as the NC State Delegate with Jim Hughes and Jason Dancy alternate delegates. Bob gave out awards to the high average leaders and the state team points leaders. Bob had some rather extensive dental work done but made the trip to honor these NC shooters.

Marty Hill will remain as the NC trapshooting association president, and he does a great job in that role. Tammi Daniels and her crew did a wonderful job and hats off to Thea and Gail. Also, the refs were great with veterans from the local VFW and a crew from the local FFA. http://www.shootscoreboard.com

The Buckhorn Gun Club shoots this Sunday so run over there a register targets in Mebane NC. Not much else is going on locally and no BIG50’s this week. OK that is about it, and I hope everyone has a great week. Hello to Scott, Ronnie, Cowboy, Tim, Bobby, Phil, Mac, Will, Thea and Anne and until next week…….smokem
