Good morning and I hope you had a chance to get out and shoot last week. If you are reading this and are at the Grand American, the scores have been amazing. No shoots scheduled for this upcoming week and Buckhorn shot over the weekend. I have no shoot report from Buckhorn and will hope to have that for next week.
Folks are at the Grand and some arrived on Sunday. I have been getting reports of North Carolina shooters winning and mostly in the handicap events. Sub-Jr Jacob Gossett has been on an absolute tear with wins in his sub-jr category and is now shooting from the 25-yard line. Isaac McCoy posted a 99 in the Krieghoff Handicap and now he is on the 25. ATA Secretary Hunter Galloway posted a 98 in the Krieghoff Handicap and went 25-24-22 to secure the 5th spot in that event.
Currently 24 NC shooters are classified at the Grand. 2473 shooters have been classified so far and in 2023 3047 shooters were classified at the start of championship week. The weather has been great with a good indication being 100 straights in the handicap events. 5 100 straights were broken Sunday in the Blaser handicap, and they were from the back fence. Looking at the upcoming week it looks like the weather will cooperate and more amazing scores to report.
It is neat to see shooters from outside of the US competing in Sparta. There are 98 Brazilians shooting and one of the 100’s that won the handicap earlier in the week was from Australia. Thomas Turner from Australia broke the lone 100 in the Trapshooting USA Handicap in event #5 from the 26.5-yard line.
