Sort of strange not having any trap shoots to report from over the weekend. Two beautiful days and not a registered shoot in the state with shoots in VA and SC. There are several events this weekend with Rockingham County and Charlie Brown hosting events.
Rockingham County Gun Club will host their annual Memorial shoot this Saturday. We will be giving away $100 to the hi-gun for singles, handicap, doubles and the HOA in memory of RCGC from days gone by. The weather looks a little moist but come out and have fun anyway.
Sunday Rockingham County will host a BIG50 with registration at 1pm and shooting at 2pm. You do not have to be an ATA member to shoot so come on out and break some birds. Also, on Sunday the Charlie Brown Gun Club will host a BIG50 and the weather looks similar at both locations with a %50 chance of rain.
The 2024 Northeastern Grand American took place over the weekend in Cicero NY, and we had one NC shooter at the event. Daniel Musselwhite shot several events, and I hope to meet him at the Dixie Grand if he attends. Conditions must have been rough with a lone 199 (Daniel Fadden) winning the singles, 93 (Herb Lewis) winning the doubles and 89 (three in shootoff) winning the handicap. 376 (Herb Lewis) won the HAA and 938 (Robert Nihtila) won the HOA. I have always heard that Cicero is an interesting place to shoot and hope to make it up there one day.
I heard from John Sandell that lives up in Massachusetts. He reported that more folks were out shooting with the cooler temps. Of course, I guess he will need to get some shooting in before winter sets in. Some Northern clubs shoot all through the winter with photos of paths cleared off and foot deep snow. Hardy bunch of folks I would say.
That will about do it for this week. Hello to Scott, Ronnie, Cowboy, Tim, Bobby, Phil, Mac, Will, John, Mark, Thea and Anne and until next week……smokem
