Greetings from Chantal-soaked Jamestown North Carolina. Buckhorn shot over the weekend with Saturday a good turnout and Sunday almost a washout. We had NC shooters in VA, KY, MI and Wyoming. I will post some info because some winner info is not available at this time.
I might as well start with the KY State Shoot. 445 singles shooters with the Kentucky winner James Bush with 200 and 250 extra. Out-Of-State winner was Illinois shooter Mason Bartlow with a 200 and 300 extra. KY doubles (307) champ is Preston Philpot JRG with a 100 and OOS TN shooter Tyler Honnold JRG. KY handicap (367) champ is Ian Woods with a 99 and OOS winner Indiana shooter Ken Jordan with a 99. KY HAA Preston Philpot 396 and OOS Tyler Honnold 397. KY HOA Keith Ditto 1183 and OOS PA Ian Darroch 1180. NC 2025 State Caps Champs Keith Forbes broke a 95 Sunday for his 24-26.5 yardage group.
I do not have the “official” winner info, but it looks pretty clear to me who won what in the championship events. 142 singles entries with JR VA shooter Tristan Shupe the winner with 198. Out-of-state winner is GA shooter Ethan Ledford with the lone 200. 104 doubles shooters with Alec Sauble and Tristan Shupe tied with 96’s. OOS winner is DE shooter Fritz Carlsten with a 96. Handicap fielded 138 with Quinlan Degraff and Randy Kelly tied with 95’s. OOS caps winner was GA shooter Ethan Ledford with 95. VA HAA winner is Tristan Shupe with 387 and OOS winner Ethan Ledford with 389. VA HOA winner in none other than VA JR shooter Tristan Shupe with 1231 and OOS winner DE shooter Fritz Carlsten with 1215. Now this list is based on scores posted and not the “official” list of winners supplied by the VATRAP association. Not all winner info has been posted at 10:40PM Sunday night. I know we had NC shooters in VA including the Dancy’s, Larry High, Jacob Gossett and Tiffany Decker.
Michigan is next and not all the winner info has been posted. I know that Caleb, Connor and Shannon Mathis shot and won numerous trophies. Dad Shannon won Out-of-state Class D singles on Wednesday and C Class singles on Friday!!!!!!! Connor got a yard punch for his 97 in caps event #5. Caleb broke two 100’s in singles, 100 in doubles and his first 100 in handicap. At the time of this writing, I did not have access to everything he won. He won JRG HOA with 1269 and HAA JRG with 388.
Buckhorn shot Saturday and they had a good turnout. 28 singles shooters with “C” Class shooter James Fisher posting the winning 99. 22 handicap shooters and Tim Gallagher getting a punch for his winning 95. 9 doubles shooters and James Fisher winning with a 91 and the HOA with 99/91/91 for a 281x300. Sunday yielded a small crowd with singles shot with 5 entries. The caps and dubs were cancelled due to the heavy rain and wind from tropical depression Chantal.
We had a shooter that traveled to Wyoming to visit family and shoot in the Wyoming State Shoot in Torrington. He had a great trip out, had a good visit and shot pretty good at this new club at about 4000 feet in elevation. Since the handicap scores have not been posted I really don’t know who all won what and hopefully this shooter brought a trophy home to NC. Oh, by the way I missed that he posted a new story last week in Tall Tales & True Stories.
One trap shooting event this Saturday at the Durham County Wildlife Club. The weather looks like 90 degrees and there is a chance of cooling rain. Scarlett will probably post a program Monday with a pre-squad link to sign up. It is always a good time and please appreciate the effort it takes to host a registered trapshooting event.
I hope everyone has a great week. The smoke report might be delayed next week due to travel. Hopefully we can put it all together and get it posted. Hello to Scott, Ronnie, Cowboy, Tim, Bobby, Phil, Mac, John, Art, Barron, Mark C, Mark S, Travelin Dan, John W, Thea and Anne and until next week……smokem
