The 12th Glenn Miller/Ironman Marathon

To think we’ve been doing this for twelve years, and it seems like each year gets even better than the one before. We had some great weather Saturday we were cooled by some of that good mountain breeze, then you couldn’t have ordered a better day to shoot trap than Sunday with blue bird skies and a temp of 78. And the shooters, what can you say, what a great bunch of people. And on Sunday they just keep coming in the door. We had people in from Kentucky, Virginia, and Tennessee the cars just keep rolling in. Thanks to everyone that made their way to the mountains for some shooting.

Now on to the shooting, Saturday the “Ironman”. Five rounds a total of 500 targets in one day, three rounds of Handicap targets and two rounds of Doubles. To shoot the Ironman you must endure heavy round after heavy round of pounding. But there are rewards to be made Punches, we moved a lot of people back this weekend. First round of handicap we had twenty shooters with Mr Charlie Keiger taken top honors and half yard punch on a 90 score. Second round we had a group roll in with 91’s a Jim Jacobs, Tim Crabtree, and a young man Braxton Ragan all collecting a half yard punches. Third and last round of handicaps we had nineteen shooters and two shooters posting 94’s for their turn at the punch. A Mr. Doug Merkel, who’s now escorting Miss Kitty, and with him came Eli Waters. Now that all the hard work done we’re on into Doubles and Bam Bam, AKA George Sudderth, came to the front on both events posting scores of 96.

Now Good Night and for everyone going to the Grand have nothing but GOOD LUCK!!!
