October 28th Smoke Report

Sunday turned out nice and Saturday in certain areas a little soggy. I managed to travel to Boone over the weekend but did not make it to the Wing Fling Saturday.
The calendar for registered shoots is thinning down for the winter months but the Buckhorn Toys for Tots is always fun and rewarding in November. I have included the NCTA shoot calendar link and here it is….. http://nctrap.com/shoots2017.pdf
Morg posted some of the pictures of folks in costumes at the Wing Fling at Watauga. I remember days of old when they dressed up and viewed some pictures that I would love to see again. They had a good crowd and tested out a new MEC Doubles trap that was delivered by Bob Schultz and Dennis Taylor earlier in the week. Hopefully the shoot post will be posted shortly.
Not sure if you take time to do a leaf run in the NC Mountains but the leaves were nice around the Boone area and on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We survived the Tweetsie Ghost Train and traveled when the rain was pouring down Saturday night. It rained all night and finally cleared up about noon Sunday.
I found out that Brandon Matthews got married and congrats to him and his lovely bride. I know Anne is tickled to death and sure hope the new bride Megan will let him get out to shoot some.
November is upon us and for those of you that experienced it the Thanksgiving shoot at Ft. Bragg was the best. It is tough to run a shoot much less deep fry turkeys and feed hungry shooters. It was a great time of the year to shoot and eating a turkey dinner at a gun club prior to Thanksgiving was rather enjoyable. You never miss some things until they were gone and hats off to all that made that possible for so many years Marty Hill.

Along that same note the Toys for Tots shoot at Buckhorn has always been a great event and the toys and money donated are always appreciated by the children in need. I have over the years taken pictures of toys spread out over several tables that were donated to the event. If you have never been please get it on your calendar to attend.
