ChucknSandi Farewell Shoot Day 1 & 2 Scores & Pix
Posted: Sat Jun 28, 2008 9:44 pm
A rather healthy group of shooters assembled today at the Buckhorn Gun Club. The reason for the gathering was to express our deep appreciation for a wonderful couple. Chuck and Sandi have blessed us with their great attitude and wonderful talent. Unless you have been involved with running a registered trapshoot, you may not know what all is involved. Chuck and Sandi have worked diligently and assisted Ft. Bragg, Old Hickory@Rocky Mount, NCTA/HOF Homegrounds and the Charlie Brown Gun Club with shoot management.
They were presented with two items today and one of the gifts came from the Old Hickory crew. Roger Bynum presented the couple with a handmade mirror for the wall that was hand crafted by him. Jackie Roush presented the couple with a handmade tapestry that was taken from a picture that was snapped by yours truly of the original trap 1. I have pictures of the art and will try to post them tonight or Sunday.
Now for the basic rundown on the shoot info! It was HOT all day and absolutely not a drop of rain fell today. The wind wasn't too bad and the clouds slipped in and out just when you least expected it.
Four fields were used with ERAD's on 1-3 and regular voice calls in "The Hollow". Scores were high regardless of the heat and the traps worked great all day. The local refs and the kids from Fayetteville and Durham did a great job. Lunch was great as usual and the Poke Chop dinner really hit the spot. Thanks to the Buckhorn GC for a well run event and we hope they have a great shoot Sunday also!
Singles - 42 shooters stepped to the line and three perfect scores were posted by Lloyd Brown, Jimmy Wilson and Charlie Brown. LB took Champ, Jimmy took AA, Tim Crabtree took A, Lane Murray took B, Donald Gray took C, Ed Arthur (VA) took D, Charlie Brown took Vet, Elmo Matkins took SrVet and Ann Morgan won the flip with Gail Page for Lady.
Handicap - 38 shooters participated with local Donald Gray posting the top score! Greg High took long, Tom Brown took intermediate, Chuck Woody took mid, Lane Murray took short, Jeri Wilson took lady and Charlie Brown took vet. Tom Brown won the daily MID-50 with a 49, good shooting Tom!
Doubles - 5 squads signed up for the 100 pair and Lou Carter wound up the winner on the 200 target total. Greg High took AA, Terry Roush took A, Billy Thigpen took B, Chuck Woody took C, Tom Kanas took D and Charlie Brown took vet.
It looks like Charlie Brown took the HOA with 100-93-191=384x400 - That score was one better than Jimmy Wilson, Greg High and Lou Carter!

Ok that is about it and don't forget day 2 with a typical 300 target program for Sunday! Maybe the heat will be a little less intense but I seriously doubt it will cool off!
Let me say that the BGC and Jimmy really appreciate everybody that came out for this event! Thanks to all that helped load, score, pickup shells, prep lunch, prep dinner, make ice-cream, bake goodies and of course clean up all the mess!
Have a great Sunday and have a fun 4th of July Holiday from TarHeelTrap.com:-)
