Coharie Shooting League Results 4/14/2012

Post by smokem »

We had a beautiful day to shoot and thankfully no rain and minimal wind. There were 2 new shooters present: Dane Westbrook is a new sub jr shooter from Clinton being tutored by Mac and Al and Al Merlin from Dudley. Dane has shot maybe 20 practice rounds and received a BT 99 for Christmas. He broke a very respectful 91 in his first 100 singles. Al Williams was unexpectedly called to work Saturday leaving Mac short handed but all the shooters present jumped in and helped Mac run the shoot. Thanks especially to Marty Hill for manning the computer and all the shooters who scored and loaded targets and helped clean up. It was great to see Mark Lane after 2 years absence from shooting and would you believe he broke 97 in singles? On to the scores and ask George about the Killdeer.

Champ George Brown 100

AA Greg High 98

Freddie,

I cannot believe I omitted the important detail of HOA winner. But who else would you expect to be HIGH other than the one and only GREG HIGH. I believe his score was 278 x 300.

I should have commented a little more about our Jr and Sub Jr shooters. We all know Chase Reese and what a fine adolescent he is. I know his mom is so proud of him. Few of you know my friend Dane Westbrook yet, but he is cut from the same mold as Chase. They are both very polite, mannerly, helpful, safe and well behaved. Dane recently received his Eagle Scout award and we remember Chase received his last year. Our future is in good hands with such young people. You know I see many adolescents every week and these two are certainly the cream of the crop, not just in their shooting ability, but in the way they are living their lives.
