April 7th Smoke Report

Post by smokem »

I hope everyone is enjoying the weather with all the pollen and the wind. Just a normal transition they say and tell that to my eyes. Buckhorn shot over the weekend and two shooting events this weekend.

Buckhorn shot Saturday and Sunday, and both days were well attended. All I have is the scores and in some cases, you can figure out who the winners are. Saturday (24/20/12) Dan Johnson and Greg Robison knotted up with 99’s in the singles, Ed Gideon moved himself to the 24.5 with his 91 in handicap and Eric Blakeney won the doubles with a 97. The weather was clear warm and windy and the Eurotargets look like they are working well.

Sunday (25/25/14) found similar scores with Eric Blakeney, Daniel Tollison and Ed Gideon breaking 98’s, Daniel Tollison moved to the 23.5 with his 92 and Greg Robinson moved to the 27 with a similar score. Joe Nalley was the doubles winner with a 95 with Dan Johnson and close second with a 93. I’m not sure who won HOA both days and will report that next week.

Kevin Biss was honored for his first 100 straight in singles at the Southern Grand in Odessa Florida. That is quite an accomplishment and well deserved after all the time he has put in to break that perfect score. A good crew stepped to the bank and dispatched his hat while it flew in the air and rested on the ground!

Two shooting events this weekend with Rockingham hosting a BIG50 Saturday and Ft. Bragg (not Liberty) shooting a typical 300 target program. The weather looks good both days with temps in the low 60’s. Programs will be posted for both events on this site.

Be sure to check out Dan Johnsons latest installment in Tall Tails and True Stories. "Rockingham 200" chronicles a day that may never be repeated again on that soil, but we hope it will one day!

Roger Shaffer passed last Sunday, and his obituary can be found by mashing this link. https://www.wilkersonfuneral.com/obitua ... er-shaffer
