Good morning and here we are in the middle of May. Not sure what the total rainfall is for this area, but I bet it is more than last year at this time. Durham County hosted an SCTP event Saturday that was well attended. DCWC also hosted a shoot on Saturday and some great scores were broken.
This week there are two events in North Carolina and one in South Carolina. Wednesday the Buckhorn Gun Club will host a BIG50 event. I believe signup is 11 and shooting begins at noon. Saturday the Watauga Gun Club hosts their monthly 300 target program event. Also, the Spartanburg Gun Club will be hosting a 300-target program on Saturday also.
Saturday the Durham County Wildlife Club hosted an SCTP event with singles ATA registered and the handicap and doubles nonregistered. Scarlett reported that 45 shot singles with 39 shooting the handicap and the doubles. She said they almost ran out of targets. Saturday Jacob Gossett won the singles, doubles and HOA with Eric Blakeney winning the handicap and a ½ yard punch.
Just a few more weeks until the North Carolina State Shoot and I believe about 160 already in the pre-squad system according to NCTA President Marty Hill. Should be a great time and hopefully the weather will be great all 5 days. Even if it rains it ought to be warm enough that it will feel good. Please keep Al Bost in your prayers. Marty Hill is reporting that his sister is under the weather. Also keep Tom Brown in your prayers with an upcoming procedure early in June.
