June 17th Smoke Report

Post by smokem »

Good morning and I hope you are enjoying this heat and dry weather. Great for trapshooting and golf it looks like and hopefully the moisture will return. Buckhorn shot Sunday and hopefully we will have a shoot report to share next week. Two trap shoots coming up this week with Watauga (300 targets) and a BIG50 at the Rockingham County Gun Club.

NC youth shooters shot well in Pennsylvania and Tennessee. Greyson Stainback won in Elysburg and hopefully we will have more info next week. The Mathis brothers and Jacob Gossett rolled east to Nashville and shot well in the sweltering heat. They won a bunch and Caleb broke a 100 in singles and his brother shot his personal best 99 in the 200-target event Saturday. Jacob broke 198-98-96 to win the Open HAA with a 392. Congrats to all and thanks for representing NC Trapshooting! http://www.shootscoreboard.com

The Watauga Gun Club will host a typical 300 target program Saturday the 22nd. Always a little cooler in that valley (83) and a good lunch also. The Rockingham County Gun Club will host a BIG50 Saturday the 22nd and registration begins at 8:30 and shooting begins at 9 or earlier if squads are ready. Looks like a hot one with a forecast of 93 for the high. Oh, Mark Spoon will not be there just to get that out of the way.

2025 May 1-4 the NC Hall of Fame shoot will be held at the NC Homegrounds. Two gentlemen will be inducted, and they are Noah Gouge and Brian Keever. Congratulations to these fellows and looking forward to the shoot in May. I guess the question is will the SC State Shoot be held at the NC Homegrounds in April?

The 125th Annual Grand American is right around the corner. I attended the Grand the first year in Sparta in 2006 and will finally get to return this year. If you have never been it is an amazing place to compete, but we will be staying 19 miles away. Very limited local hotels and most must drive 30 plus miles for lodging.

Ok that is about it and I hope everyone has a great week. Hello to Scott, Ronnie, Cowboy, Tim, Bobby, Phil, Mac, John, Will, Barron, Thea and Anne and until next week…….smokem
