Hello and I hope everyone had a great weekend. Hot and dry is pretty much the way it is across the state and hopefully rain will come soon. Several events over the weekend and several events this week in North Carolina.
The Watauga Gun Club shot Saturday and the weather was great and the temps cooler than the rest of the state. Shawn Reese won the singles and the HOA, Leonard Cordell won the handicap and Will Price won the doubles. Lee Perry shot at and broke his 25,000th singles target and congratulations to Lee. Always a good time at Watauga and their next shoot is July 27-28.
Saturday the Rockingham County Gun Club hosted a BIG50 and we started early. Gage Malone won the singles with a 49, Grayson Stainback won the caps with a 47 and Jacob Gossett won the doubles with a 48. RCGC will host a BIG50 on July 20th with registration at 8:30 and shoot at 9.
This Wednesday the Buckhorn Gun Club will host a BIG50 with registration at 11 and shoot at noon. Saturday the Durham County Wildlife Club and Ft. “Bragg” Liberty will host typical 300 target programs. Always a good time at both locations and if you are looking for targets before the Grand time is slowly running out.
We had two groups of youngins shooting in two different states. The Mathis brothers were in Arkansas and shot great and won a bunch. Isaac McCoy and Colson Allen were in Ohio and brought a few awards home to North Carolina. Caleb Mathis is on a tear with breaking 100 straights in NC, TN & AK and Connor with his high handicap scores. So glad to see these youngins shoot so good and hats off to the parents and grandparents that support their shooting.
This week begins a lead reclamation project at the Rockingham County Gun Club. Looks like two or three weeks to get the project done and we are all interested in just how many tons of lead will be recovered. The range will be closed during the operation and some shooting will be allowed as the work progresses.
That is about it for this week and hopefully some of you can get out and shoot this week, Hello to Scott, Ronnie, Cowboy, Tim, Bobby, Phil, Mac, John, Will, Thea and Anne and until next week……..smokem
