December 2nd Smoke Report

Post by smokem »

Good morning and I hope this finds you resting comfortably after all the Thanksgiving food and festivities. If you are working on eating your way to AAA you might have gotten a start.

Cooler weather has moved into the area, and it looks like some NC western counties might have gotten a light dusting of the white stuff. Several shoots this weekend in NC, SC and VA. Brushy Mountain and Spartanburg shoot Saturday and Buckhorn shoots on Sunday. Saturday looks like mid 40’s for a high and Sunday looks like mid 50’s. Wind for both days look mild so if the sun is out, it might not be too awful bad.

Dropped by Sportsman’s Warehouse on Friday and man was that placed packed. I really wanted to see if they had any shotgun shells but decided to check the shot prices. Eagle brand shot is 60 bucks a bag and I guess if you need it you will pay the price.

I know some folks still reload and I am wondering if anyone has ever used a spacer wad in the wad to allow the shell to crimp properly? I have a shooting friend that is using a spacer the size of a tums to fill the void and allow the shell to be crimped correctly. Without this spacer in the wad the petals are pushed deep into the shell.

John Sandell sent me a report of activity in his New England area and said the Minuteman Gun Club had moved their snow removal equipment into place in anticipation of future snowy weather. They also shoot at night at Sharon Fish & Game and evidently he says the lime green targets look like pie plates at night. He will be heading South in about a month to shoot SC and Trap in NC, SC and Florida. Hopefully we can intercept them on the way South and possibly spread some lead at RCGC.

Ok sports fans that will do it for this week. Oh, happy birthday to Isaac McCoy and I hope you had a good one. Hello to Scott, Ronnie, Cowboy, Tim, Bobby, Phil, Mac, John, Will, Mark, Art , Thea and Anne and until next week………smokem
