I guess it is fair to say there will be no registered shoots this coming weekend with the Christmas holiday upon us. The next registered event in North Carolina will be January 4th, 2025 at the Buckhorn Gun Club. Not sure what everyone is getting for Christmas, but I would imagine a few new guns will be under the tree this year.
I got a call from Phil Berkowitz in sunny Florida Sunday. He wished me a Merry Christmas and said he was shooting some in and around the local area. He is back shooting his Infinity and had a few issues in the colder weather. Always good to hear from him and might get to see him at the Southern Grand in March.
Spoke to Jim Daughtridge last week and he said he finally sold his Kolar target shotgun. Jim was very active prior to 2010 and registered his last targets at the Old Hickory@Bostic Club in May 2010. A true gentleman and surely miss him around the shooting scene for sure..
The North Carolina shoot calendar can be found at www.nctrap.com and has the major NC Homeground dates and some other clubs have posted their events. Hopefully it will be filling in very soon so keep checking on it.
As many of you know the South Carolina State Shoot will be held at the NC Homegrounds along with the NC Hall of Fame shoot. It was very successful last year when it was held in April and hopefully it will draw just as big of a crowd in 2025. The Georgia State Shoot will be the week before the SC event in NC. Brian Keever and Noah Gouge will be inducted into the NCHOF and the banquet will be held Saturday night.
I hope everyone has a great Christmas Holiday with family and friends. This can be a tough time for folks that have lost loved ones. Take a minute and call a shooting friend or relative and cheer them up and I am sure they will appreciate it.
