Fred Redmon and the KX5.
Years ago (he can provide the date if you ask him) Freddy purchased a beautiful Krieghoff KX5. He was full of misguided intentions of wreaking havoc among the trapshooting community wherever he went in the singles and handicap disciplines with it.
What came to pass was that Fred would take the K gun with him wherever he went, but, would leave it in his vehicle while he continued to shoot his gas guns (Beretta semi automatics). Several times he was asked when he was going to break this dedicated target munching machine out and wear everyone’s a_ _ out with it as he had prophesized.
This remained the norm throughout the target year, venue to venue, state to state and tournament to tournament. Fred would show up, shoot, put his toys away, bid farewell and see you next time. This all taking place while the break open single barrel languished in the car, silently pleading for the opportunity to prove it’s metal and fulfill its destiny.
This brings us to the fateful Fall day at the Watauga Gun Club in Boone, NC. The event was the annual Wing Fling. This tournament was always well attended. Shooters from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee and points beyond came to participate in the shooting as well as the main attraction, John Waters’ famous BBQ wings.
Fred was in attendance. As usual, he was wailing away at it with one of his Beretta semis. Then it happened. As he was on the line shooting, somehow Fred’s Krieghoff showed up on a table under the pavilion, on display in it’s fitted Americase with a FOR SALE sign attached.
The gun had several people looking at it, When done shooting Fred himself actually walked past it (without recognition) and continued on to get in line to dish up his meal.
Now, among the crowd was a lady that thought her husband should have this finely crafted piece of German engineering. The price that was on the FOR SALE sign was wayyyyy more than reasonable. So, she approached Fred while at the same time reaching in her purse to dig out the cash to make and complete the purchase transaction.
Of course it was at this time that Freddy realized that it was HIS gun that was for sale. He immediately abandoned his meal, adamantly (almost rudely) told the would be buyer that his KX5 was NOT for sale, closed the case and put the lonely, unused single barrel back in his Pathfinder, never to be seen again………
After Mr. Redmon had secured his gun behind locked doors, he began making unfounded, unsubstantiated accusations towards multiple individuals on site. Mind you, he was referring to persons of impeccable character. To this day, it remains undetermined exactly how this KX5 came to be for sale and/or by who…………..
Have a Great Day!

Re: Fred Redmon and the KX5
I had to abandon my food mid bite just to get my gun in a safe place. I still have the sign that someone penned I mean who could it be? That KX5 got me to the 25 yard line and I wound up selling it to a fellow in Winnemucca Nevada.
