11th Annual Ted Smith Shoot Report

Post by smokem »

Image
Wind, rain, cloudy skies, swirling leaves couldn’t keep shooters away from the 11th Annual Ted Smith Charity shoot October 17th & 18th 2009. As I traveled to the club Saturday I noticed that the road was wet prior to arriving at Buckhorn. Singles and handicap were shot in wind but the doubles were tricky at best. The refs were huddled on their stands trying not to expose more skin than necessary.

I took some good pictures but I missed the most important one and that was of Ted Smith. I was told that Ted is pretty much bed ridden due to brittle bones and some issues with his back. Please pray for him and his family and we sure hate he missed seeing all of his friends at the club. Bobby Page told me of the kindness Ted showed him when Bobby first started trapshooting. I would imagine that there are many more stories of Ted helping new trap shooters over the years.

Ok – now on to the scores and it will take me a bit to get these all typed up! So here we go!

Now it is time for the section to thank all the folks who attended the shoot. Also to all of the folks that helped score, load and cook! Everybody likes to see their name so here goes – George, Taylor, Bill, Jeri, Marty, Gail, Bobby, Tom, Don, Tim, Andrew, Auman and if I forget anybody just email me and we will add your info!

Oh – I about forgot to mention just how well Gail Page has been shooting of late. I heard that she is inspired and has a favorite saying to sort of get her pumped up and in the “ZONE” so to speak. If you ever watch Nascar racing the famous Darrel Waltrip will utter these word right after Larry “Screech” McReynolds says his bit and they are – Boogity, Boogity, Boogity – Let’s go racing boys! Gail says Boogity, Boogity, Boogity let’s go shooting Gail! So the next time you see Gail - reach down deep and let her rip - you know what to say!

Looking forward to next Sautrday we have the Ft. Bragg shoot and then a week later a 3 day shoot at the Homegrounds! Have a great week and we hope to have some pictures posted very soon!!

James, James, James,

The Ted is a two (2) day shoot! It requires participation for BOTH days. That means Saturday AND Sunday.

Big sissy. "bout as bad as Tommy Brown being a chicken, if you remember that conversation.............

C'mon, set an example. Tell Jeri it's your turn to be the Man.

Have a Great Day! Dan
