Day 2 at the Rockingham County Gun Club Spring Open turned out to be another beautiful day of shooting in the Tarheel State. Clouds filtered into the area and the wind played with the targets once again.
We were treated to BBQ for lunch and cherry cobbler prepared by Lee Ann. I have pictures to prove just how good that cheery cobbler was. When I tried to scoop the first spoonful I noticed JC standing there with his plate out.
Singles – Tommy Brown broke the lone 100 today and mashed 50 on my field like he was hitting them with a hammer.
Handicap – JC Nunn broke 72 out of the first 75 and then dropped 3 out of the next 25. It was enough to get the job done with a 94. Tommy Brown gave JC some advice prior to the handicap event and it really helped. Ask James “Crippler” Nunn what Tommy told him the next time you see him.
Doubles – Tommy Brown broke 47 on the first box and then ran the last 50 in a nasty tail wind. He also outpaced all shooters for the HOA honors to boot.

Thanks to everybody that came out to shoot and everybody that helped out. Next shoot at the Rock is the Lewis Class Shoot April 3rd. Next registered event is April 24th ..

Day 1 of the Spring Open at the Rock is over and Day 2 will commence in the morning. The weather was picture perfect with Carolina blue skies and minimal winds until the caps and the doubles.
We were treated to a fabulous lunch that included fried fish with homemade hushpuppies and tartar sauce. We also had corn and Lee Ann prepared a light and fluffy dessert that was absolutely delicious.
Some good scores were broken during the event but I had to call lost a lot today even with the beautiful weather. It actually may have been too nice to shoot today looking at some of the totals.
Luis Gonzalez topped all singles shooters with an impressive 99. Tom Brown led all shooters in the caps from the back fence with a 92. Tom Brown also led doubles shooters with a 91 and took HOA with a 277x300.
